Upstairs at 85 East 4th Street | NYC
Saturday night a friend and I went to the KGB Bar on 4th Street in the East Village, a great little literary hang out, up several flights of steps (front, inside and then another set, straight up) It’s worth the climb. Our occasion was a reading of mystery writers from Mystery Writers of America, the New York Chapter. The president of the Chapter Laura Curtis hosted and six writers read: Elizabeth Kerry Mahon, Richie Narvaez, Michael Daigle, John Roche, Alex Segura, and Radha Vartal. Some are published, some are aspiring, all were enjoyable. If you click on the link you can see the history of the bar, from a small private bar for Ukrainians, to a speak-easy, to the present unusual incarnation. You also will see a calendar of events on the left side of the page. Not only mysteries but poetry, novels, and various quirky writers and creative people willing to share their work. Tickets are free, drinks are cheap, chairs are comfortable. A cozy cultural bonanza.
